Day 12: Venice (Venezia)
Hospital time! My feet were still swollen and
bruised, so Renee and I went to the hospital to check up on
Loz and to also have my feet looked at. Cab fare was like 40
bucks to get there, and 30 to get back, go figure. We waited
for about an hour, and I had my feet looked at. I got a shot
in the ass, had my feet wrapped up, got a prescription, and
that was it. They never did tell me what bit me. Lucky bug,
I would have CRUSHED you! All that cost me 24 euros, and the
medicine was another 8 euros… I only ended up taking like 1
out of the pack, what a waste. It took me 15 minutes to figure
out where to pay my bill, walking around aimlessly, I saw these
vending/atm machine type things, only there were like 4 of them
all in a row, and I thought, how weird. I went up to it, put
in the number on my bill, and the cost, and deposited the money.
I thought that was cool :) We had to wait a little longer to
see Lauren since they wouldn’t let us see her until the doctor
checked her out. She had stayed overnight in the hospital because
she hadn’t been feeling too well the entire trip, and it had
gotten worse. Lauren was able to escape the doctors and came
and talked to us, and told us about how she had been stuck in
a hallway all night, without a proper room or anything, and
how they wanted her to stay another night. That didn’t go over
too well. After consulting with the doctors, Lauren was able
to get permission to be released, and so we grabbed a taxi back
to camp Fusina.
After getting back to camp, Ryan (just now waking up from a
night of partying), Ren and I got a 5 euro pass to take the
ferry over to Venice. Once we got there, it seemed like we were
in a ghost town or something, there just wasn't anyone around.
It was a Sunday, so a lot of shops were closed which explained
the lack of activity, what a cruddy day to visit Venice I thought
to myself. After walking around for a couple of minutes, we
ran into Ray and Co. and guess who was with them? Yup, My Stacey!
Heh, I love how everything always works out on vacation :) We
grabbed some lunch at Burger King, and then walked over to St.
Mark's square, more people and pigeons appeared, guess Venice
wasn't too deserted after all. I went shopping and bought masks
for my lil bros and crystal goblets for my parents upcoming
anniversary. Lots spent, lots to see! We met up in the afternoon
with the rest of the group, and went on our optional gondola
ride. Was a lot of fun, but our driver dude was as stiff as
the Terminator. Not even Chauntel could get him to laugh. Was
a bunch of fun though, great company, great sights, no worries.
Next time, it'll be just me and Stace though ;)
Went to bed early, couldn't stand another night of wild parties
in Fusina... Tomorrow's another big day!
