Day 17: Lautterbrunen – Jungfraujoch
9am: We took off on a walk into town and to the
train station. The train to the top of mount Jungfrau was a
two hour one, and on the way up we were treated to an awesome
view of the area’s fog. The Sphinx observation deck was foggy,
the activity area where we went sledding, foggy, everywhere
we went was foggy! You couldn’t see more than ten feet in front
of you, and it was cold too! It’s okay though, I had Stace to
warm up my hands ;) We had fun sledding down the hill and having
snowball fights with all the girls, too bad they all decided
to gang up on me. BAD AMY! It was also Vanessa and Kelly’s first
time seeing snow, so it was fun seeing them react to the cold
and wet stuff. I love snow, even though
we don’t really get any out here in San Diego, I go snowboarding
a few times each year when weather permits. To think
that almost all the Aussie girls were wearing next to nothing
when we were preparing to go up the mountain this morning, Camilla
in thongs, Jenny in layers (which consisted of a camisole and
a shirt?), and Ren in Aaron’s awesome retro vest, was definitely
a sight to see. Flip flops just won’t work in the snow kiddos
;) We had another salami picnic lunch at the “Top of Europe”
and visited the Ice Palace and the Plateau where we were finally
given a glimpse through the fog. Leaving to come back at 2pm,
we got back into town at around 4:30 and checked out some of
the shops for a bag to keep all of the souvenirs that I had
picked up along the way in. I can’t believe I ended up spending
170 CHF on chocolate and a knife, but I had a good reason! I
needed to get rid of all my francs so I wouldn’t have to exchange
them later, but I guess that doesn’t explain me putting 100
of the francs on my credit card. I spent time with Stace and
the gang just hackey sacking, damn she’s gotten so good, I’ve
got to find her a hackeysack before I leave.
I love Switzerland, I wonder if they’d take me
as a citizen… Went to bed at like 9:30 and got plenty of sleep,
I’m all ready for the next few days, too bad there’s only three
days left…
