Day 6: Château de Cruix - Antibes
We left the château in the early morning,
and having gone to bed early last night, I was surprised to
see that I was still extremely tired. We started on our drive
to Antibes, but first we stopped at Cannes, made popular by
the annual film festival. Cannes wasn’t too exciting, I ended
up just taking care of business: mailing postcards, exchanging
travelers checks, and then exploring. We walked down the streets,
Me, Stace, Gaby and CJ just looking around. Gaby wanted to go
check out the shops, and so we walked down to the shopping street,
but there wasn’t really much to buy. Splitting up from Gaby
and CJ who went to find an internet café, me and Stace
headed down towards the beach… stopping to get some ice cream
on the way. Magnums are so good! Wonder
why we don’t have them here in the states. Making our
way down to the public beaches (we had no intention of paying
for the private ones), me and Stace headed out to the little
jetty and just sat. This would have been the perfect moment
to talk to her, but I chickened out =( After getting splashed
by the cold waves, we decided to head back over to the beach
and sit with everyone else.
Topless Beach = Good
Topless Beach with European Women = Great
Topless beach with Old Saggy Wrinkly European
Women = NO THX!
We only spent one night at the Antibes camp site,
shame too cause it was one of the better ones. The communal
showers and toilets weren’t too shabby, and rooming with CJ
was good… if only I hadn’t burnt my jeans while doing the laundry
:X Dinner was excellent too… no it wasn’t tough fish… it was
turkey! We traveled down to Monaco during the evening, and saw
the castle and the casino. Not impressed. Vegas is so much better
than Monte Carlo will ever be, but then again, that’s almost
like comparing apples and bananas. We went into the dinky casino,
just to say we’ve been there, and I saw that the minimum bet
for roulette was 5 euros, so of course I had to try it. I put
it down on black, and had the guy tell me that the minimum for
colors was 25 euros… not 5. I could only bet 5 euros on single
numbers. Stupid casino… why didn’t they tell me that beforehand?
So having a 5 euro chip, I had Stace put it down on a number…
and guess what?! We lost… I guess gambling just isn’t for me.
I do consider myself a lucky guy though, because as we were
walking towards the casino, Stacey looped her arm through mine!
Totally caught me off guard… but wow ;) Now if I could only
get her to do it again…
