Day 8

Day 9: 12pm - Rome(Roma)… SO DIRTY!

Not going to the space electronic thing last night turned out to be a good move. It turns out that the people who went thought it was crap since there were too many lil kids running about. Instead, Me, Andy, Kelsey, Ray, Christie, Shannon and Stace ended up playing UNO, speed, Asshole and downing 5 bottles of wine in the process. We all got totally wasted, and stayed up until 2 in the morning… big mistake. We had to get up at 7am this morning, and left at 8:30. First hangover ever… I was a walking wreck. Totally worth it though, saw Andy drunk and doing cartwheels, kicked everyone’s butt at cards, and got to cuddle up with Stacey… who could ask for more? Well, also got my feet eaten this night, I felt the bites as I was being bitten, but didn’t see what it was, and didn’t think much more of it. Let’s just say my fondness for Florence and Italy went down a couple of notches, you’ll see why in a bit.

We drove from Florence to Rome, and I was asleep the whole ride. I was dead tired… and wouldn’t you know it, as soon as we got to Rome, we had to immediately jump off the coach and onto a metro to go into town. We didn’t even get to stop for a break at the campsite. The guided tour we went on was boring, we should have totally skipped it in favor of actually going inside the Coliseum. I mean, the whole tour, I was more interested in finding shade and a seat, rather than listening to the old lady jabber on about something she couldn’t have been less passionate about. My feet were killing me! I couldn’t stand for more than 10 minutes without it throbbing, and I had no idea why. I got so sweaty and dirty, and felt so gross, I just wanted to go back to camp and rest. Hangovers suck. One thing to note: there are no public bathrooms in Rome, just ask Stace ;) Overall, the Coliseum, Pantheon and Trevi Fountain were nice, but extremely crowded with vendors and tourists. Add them to the heat and humidity, and you get instant irritation. There wasn’t really much to see besides some ruins, so we made our way over to piazza Navona (took me a good hour to figure out the name of the place), and had dinner at an Italian restaurant. Pasta in Italy, yum! Too bad the bottle of water was 5 euros.

Well, it seems like things are progressing with me and Stace, I got to kiss her without being intoxicated today =) This girl is perfect! She loves soccer, she’s got beautiful eyes, and she’s always laughing at my stupidness with me. Need I mention how good she makes me feel about myself, or how when I’m with her, my confidence increases ten-fold? But what happens when the trip’s over? Bleh… Shut up you baby! Going through this log, I realized that I whine way too much. Anyways, after dinner, we took some nice pictures, and then walked over to the Spanish Steps. Getting a rose and gelato for Stace, I was glad that the day was wrapping up, my feet hurt, and I needed a shower. We watched England lose to Portugal in EuroCup 2004 (shootout too), and then decided to call it a night. After a nice kiss good night, it was off to bed. Rome Tomorrow!
